"useful", in what way?Hi everyone, is there any good effects for a huge file or folder to be recycled first then emptying the recycle bin? Or direct delete is more power efficient in terms of hard drive lifespan? This is on a Windows 10 and 11. Thank you!
Thanks I just wanted to learn what is the difference between recycle and sudden deletion, recyclying sounds useful to me at least in real life,"useful", in what way?
If just for "lifespan", it makes no difference for either of your procedures.
Delete and goes to the Recycle Bin just marks that file and its space as "Not needed, and Windows file system can use that space whenever it needs."Thanks I just wanted to learn what is the difference between recycle and sudden deletion, recyclying sounds useful to me at least in real life,
Plus I changed "empty recycle bin" sound from that HORRIBLE sound to good old Windows 98 one so I love emptying it
TRIM on an HDD?AFAICT, the only major difference is that a Shift-Deleted file can be TRIM-ed, thereby rendering it unrecoverable.
TRIM on an HDD?
External SSD drives offer TRIM command support. In addition, External HDD drives that have SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) also offer TRIM command support.
OK, an external.
I think I have encountered an internal SMR drive that supported TRIM. The same principle applies.OK, an external.
Don't think thats what this is.
But either way....the Bin or Shift-Delete has no impact on drive lifespan.
