Question Is it possible to change a file system from FAT32 to NTFS without data loss.

The title pretty much sums it up. I got some old drives from someone and forgot to change their file system before putting files on them. Now one solution I know I will be given is "Backup your drive and once you format it put everything back on" but that is going to be a big hassle for me so I would rather never have to put the files somewhere else and then put them back on.

You can. But I wouldn't do it, if I were, unless I'd already backed up. Better be safe than sorry.

as far as I'm aware, the only way to change a file system is to format, and that will cause all data to be deleted.
