Is it time to replace my 7 years old 550W Antec TrupowerTrio power supply ?

I am somewhat new to this point, but I heard that PSU's over time get a power/voltage ripple from the capacitors wearing out. I wouldn't be using a 10 year old PSU. Remember the PSU can be the greatest good/greatest evil to a system, because it feeds in all those awesome watts it has the risk of frying and taking everything else with it. The older it is the greater the chance happens (unless it has that kind of warranty)

Well I wouldn't build a new system with it, but you might as well leave it in there for now.

There is no need to replace the PSU in your old computer if you aren't upgrading anything.

If you're building a new computer, then get a new PSU. Capacitors get tired and there is no good to using a tired PSU on new components. To much risk IMO. If it lets go, it can take out the mobo and processor.
