Is it worth getting another GTX 560Ti?

At the moment im running a single gtx 560ti and im wondering would it be worth getting another and running them in sli? is it really worth the money. and also what performance difference is there from both pci-e slots running at 16x and one running at 16x with the other at 8x?

Assuming your motherboard has PCI-E 2.0 slots, you will not get performance loss with one slot running at x16 and the other at x8.

In my opinion, you may be better off getting the newer cards, especially the 660 Ti coming out soon, around August.

I'm going to tell you to NOT do it. Although it's a very valuable option, I have had 2 560ti's in SLI and had nothing but hassles. A single GTX 670 solved everything and i'm a happy camper. Less power, heat, noise, maxed settings = gg :)

I would say that pezonator is speaking from his own experience i have had x2 560TI in SLI in the past and they were kick ass little beasts! However, now a days i would say it's most likely not worth it unless the one you currently own is a 2GB 560 TI if so then yes it's worth it to get another if it's the 1GB 560 TI than forget it your better off selling it and waiting to see if the 660 is as good as rumored which is supposedly expected to be a little better than a GTX 580

Correct, that's my experience and I hope it doesn't affect you if you go that path.

I agree with the 1GB comment bigcyco made. Getting another 1GB card is not worth it as games use more than that these days.

I have been running 560 ti sli for a while now with no problems but if I was in your situation now I wouldn't get them mainly due to certain games such as Battlefield 3, Max Payne 3 and Metro 2033 maxing out my vram before I can hit top settings at 1080p. As bigcyco said they still pack a punch but with newer cards out now a single gpu setup with a higher amount of vram onboard would be a better option. If you can hold off to see what the 660 ti is saying then that may be a good place to go.

Wait so if i get 2 1gb cards does that mean i can still only use 1gb of vram? or do they add together to make 2gb? i dont really tend to use much vram anyway as the max resolution i use is 1280x1024 and i usually just play 720p windowed as i like to alt-tab into different things.
