I have a Core 2 duo CPU @3.16Ghz with stock heatsink, non overclocked. When I turn on my computer and look at its temperature on idle (either in bios or speedfan, both read the same) it starts at about 25 degrees C, and after 15 min its up to 45, in another 30 min it goes up to 50-52 degrees. Is this normal behaviour? I am thinking its a little too hot because maybe I put too much thermal paste on or my heatsink is not in perfect contact with the processor, but I really dont want to reinstall it. So maybe this temperature is fine? What do u think? Thanks in advance.

i would use the rice grain technique with applying the thermal compound when you take it back off. arctic silver actually has instructions for making sure you use the proper amount of thermal paste. less is more with this stuff.
