Is my current processor compatible with this motherboard?

My cpu is an Amd Phenom II x4 965 BE

And the motherboard I'm looking at is a GA-990FXA-UD3 (r4)

Yes but IMO it would be foolish to buy a AM3+ motherboard at this point. Especially one so expensive.

The $110 i3 6100 on a $50 motherboard would be WAY WAY stronger.

I see. Then l'd love to hear your recommendation on which motherboard should I be considering, as long as the socket is an Am3.

I apologize for this, what I meant to ask was an Am2+ motherboard recommendation. I couldn't reread my reply earlier due to some internet disconnection.
