The Problem:

  • Vga light stuck on motherboard
  • Maybe issues with graphics card
  • The pc wont post with this graphics card
  • Gpu fans dont spin on startup (i think theyre supposed to. They do kick a little bit on startup but nothing else)
  • Also my keyboard was on while the system was off
The Hardware:

  • MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus ATX
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x
  • RAM: TeamGroup T-Force DDR4 3000 2x8GB
  • GPU: Powercolor Red Dragon RX 5700
  • STORAGE: 500gb ssd, 500gb hdd
  • PSU: EVGA 550W 80+Gold
  • Display: 1x 1080p 165hz DP, 1x 1080p 60hz HDMI
What I have done:

Ok this might be pretty long.

  • Reset CMOS
  • Unplug and plug in gpu from pcie
  • Unplug and plug in pci power cables (8+6)
  • Reseat ram
  • Gotten spare gpu, which actually posts to BIOS (its some random ati card from a 10 year old prebuilt)
  • Switch gpu pcie slots
  • Unplug all usb things
  • Unplug all drives
  • "Have you tried turning it on and off?"
  • Update to newest bios
  • update chipset drivers
  • Run both cards and only my old ATI card shows up in device manager and gpuz
  •
I really dont know what to do anymore guys. This only happened after I got the new radeon software and drivers about a week ago and its happened once but a restart fixed it. This happened last night I was just talking on discord and my monitor turns off and says no signal while my pc is still on and the fans were fluctuating speeds. How would I install new drivers (or roll back old ones) on the 5700 without it working? I might try running it off of another power supply but it only has a 6 pin pcie output.

I'd appreciate all the help I can get and I probably would RMA my gpu but the box and documentation are at my dorm back on campus 6 hours away which I cant go back into until the semester starts again. I can take pictures if you'd guys like.

I made a video detailing and showing everything not working

Please help guys I'd appreciate if someone from AMD sees this and potentially fixes this

Edit: I have requested an RMA from powercolor, will post updates about that.

I have the same problem. People said to me that upgrading my PSU will fix the problem, I haven't tried it though and I think your 550W PSU might be the one causing the problem
The thing is that ive been using the card fine for almost 2 months now without any problems. Its only after this driver update this has been a problem.

Given that you've isolated the RX 5700 as what causes the PC not to POST, as it does POST with another GPU installed , do you have another machine you can plug the 5700 into and see if that fails a POST?

To me, if your next PC fails to POST it sounds like the update may have broken the actual GPU firmware causing it to fail a POST. Given that it was manufacturer driver updates and it's only been 2 months that should be covered under warranty (at least it is where I'm from - AUS)
