Just finished building my new rig for the first time.
asus Z170-a
i7 6700k
Hyper evo 212
8gb hyperx ddr4 (plan is to get 8more)
samsung evo 250GB

And i kept old PSU and GPU.
GPU is gtx 760 twin frozr OC edition and i'm aware that is probably a bottleneck for gaming.
And i also kept my old PSU scythe stronger 500w.

So i'm interested is my current psu too ancient for my current rig? Am i putting my components to danger by using it etc.?

i dont think it will work properly mate its a 5 year old design so likely wont be able to hit the low powerstates required by the newer gens of cpu's
if thats the case you will have to disable some of the low power states in bios assuming it will allow you to get into bios.

When investing in such nice new components would i go for a new psu as well. Why taking risks with a psu that already might be 5 years old.It has only 360watts on the +12Voltrail which isn't that much as well.Time might have had it's impact on that as well.Warranty period is 3 years,so you're beyond that by now.

Thank you all for your answers! Thing is, i will hold my horses till black friday then i will upgrade my ram, psu and gpu.
So if you have any recommendations for a decent best buy psu, you will save me a few hours of reading and comparing reviews of something i don't understand that much.
Thanks again!
