So the question is a bit off-putting, considering the VG249Q should still be a decent choice even now. (At least based on what I've read in the last couple of hours)

In my panic over contemplating how long Black Friday deals actually last online, I ordered one for $130 after searching for just about two hours to find a good deal on a good monitor. I'm talking Best Buy, Newegg, Amazon, even Costco, and in the end I found that the VG249Q to be a jack-of-most-trades considering the 144hz refresh rate with a 1ms response time being coupled with decent ergonomics.

However; due to the fact that my research was rushed, I do wonder, is the monitor really worth it in 2023? I'd gladly appreciate some input on this as well as some suggestions for any competing monitors.

(And for context I am rocking an ASUS G14 laptop with the RTX 2060 Max-Q and 120hz on the built-in display. So, ya know, I kinda want to be equal or better than that)

Not a complex answer here - Checked out the monitor and it looks like the perfect one for me if I had to buy a new one. If you are not asking for the shiniest and most luxurious tech out there, the VG249Q will do you just fine. Needless to say the brand is reputable. IMO you got an amazing deal at $130.

As for competitors, I think the Acer Nitro XF243Y is also a good choice and is trading blows with the VG249Q.
