Your Monitor Resolution: Last I remember, the highest I've seen it go was around 1900x1200

Additional Comments: Planning on modding (increasing graphics capability of games, increasing amount of content within games, etc) so I'll need it to keep cool, but also powerful with in-game physics, and most importantly (in my opinion) lighting effects.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: This will be my first build. I've done plenty of research, so I'm not gonna fry the parts, but my goal is a high performance gaming computer.

Youv got the build down fairly well, you are on the right track for a gaming build. Just a few little issues.

This motherboard is cheaper and has all the same features (Two more SATA ports actually).

The RAM is 1.65v, which is detrimental to that Intel CPU. Also, there's no point going for speeds above 1600Mhz, the performance difference is minimal and not worth the price increase.

That PSU is a bit overkill unless your considering Crossfire/SLI later on (which both mobo's can do). If Crossfire/SLI isnt an issue, than you can drop down to a 650W unit.

You currently don't have any aftermarket cooling on the rig, meaning you wont be able to overclock that CPU very far. The go-to budget cooler is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO, good to bring that 3570k to ~4.5Ghz.

Any leftover money that's been saved I would invest into an SSD boot drive. They really do make a difference, the computer is noticeably faster with an SSD.

Thanks a lot, but what about thermal paste? Is it necessary, how often must I change it out and how effective is it for heat sink fans?

Some Thermal Paste (rebranded MX-5 I think) should come with the 212 EVO.
Every 6 months or so is when you should change the paste, as well as general PC maintenance. I find you can get two applications off the one tube.

There isnt much difference between the various pastes, think there was a 3C difference between the best and worst.
