Is the nvidia gt 520 backwards compatible with the MS-7184 motherboard

I have an HP pavillion media center m7334n with a MS-7184 motherboard. It has 1 PCI-E 1.0 x16 Slot. I am looking to upgrade to a Nvidia GT 520 video card. Only problem is that the GT 520 is a PCI-E 2.0 x16. Now what I wanna know is if the PCI 2.0 card is backwards compatible with my old 1.0 motherboard? Meaning Fitting & Technically. Thanks for your help

Yes, the PCIe 2.0 cards are backward compatible with 1.0. There won't be any problems with fitting or anything. Just that there would be a limiting bandwidth, but with a GT520, it won't be noticeable at all.
You're good to go with that.

I agree that you can run a 2.0 in a 1.0. If it was a 2.1 then you might have a problem and that depends on how old the MOBO is and if it was getting up grades all the time. The 2.0 should work.
