hi i am looking for a free app that can restore original created metadata in regards to date and time to a audio recording in mp3 and wav files? i made recordings on my tape recorder and it was configured wrong and it made the file names have the wrong date and time. it must have had a incorrect setting. is there any way i could restore it to t he correct date and time somehow? is it possible?

Not in the way you think. Since how on earth, should any app (or even yourself), know the exact date and time when the recording was made? Just guess?

So, if you have ball bark range of when the audio was recorded, you can edit the metadata and put in correct date.

You can use Powershell (included in Windows) to change dates.

However, as has been posted, you have to have or otherwise estimate the "original" date - there is no "recovery" of the actual date.
