Hello tom's Hardware community, lately I've been getting into streaming and gaming. My current PC setup is fine but I have a weak CPU which is i5-7500.

I wanted to change my current setup into a new one and need couple of people to look into it. To see if I gathered right parts and what other changes do I need.

Link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gXzxD2

P.S. don't mind the SSD (I have ADATA SP580) and GPU.

I also did some research and found out that I need a PC case with mesh front panel if I am going to use i7-8700K (don't know if its true). Also, I'm not going to overclock to 5GHz, maybe to 4GHz.

Solution
With your budget you could probably go with a better CPU but the 3600 is a great price to performance CPU (Board does support up to the 3900X).

3rd gen Ryzen may be a better price to performance option.

And lastly even though you "only" have a quad core if you have a good GPU you may be able to stream using the GPU instead of the CPU.

A $200 ryzen 5 3600 beats or ties a stock $350 8700k.

If you overclock the 8700k it will beat the 3600 in games, but the 3600 is a better choice if you're not overclocking.

That is a nice build too, but in my country I'm really limited to what CPU I can buy. Right now most of high-end Ryzen CPUs are out of stock so the only option is Intel. And if there were any Ryzen CPUs available their price reaches from $313 to $380. The only available ones are Ryzen 5 2600, 1600, 2600x. Sucks to live here 🙁

The 8gb really isn't enough either for streaming, post the country and we'll try to find a suitable build for your needs. I would reuse the storage & GPU.

How-to update the BIOS without a CPU on a MSI board.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTkXunUAriE

Solution
You won't get much of an overclock with 3rd gen, AMD intentionally made 3rd gen so you were pretty much getting the best performance right out of the box although you'll want to make sure AXMP is enabled in the BIOS to make sure the memory is running at the correct speed and enable PBO (precision Boost Overdrive) so that the CPU will perform better then stock.

I mean... depends who you ask to... For me everything below i9 9900k with a 2080ti its a meh but im used to beast pcs for gaming.

I guess as a 1080p killer that build is completly fine and for 1200 usd its not quite bad either.

Ok, so lets say I am going towards Ryzen 7 3700x.
Questions:
  1. How will it hold up for 2 or 3 years?
  2. Why should I get 700W PSU? Is 550 or 600W with 80+ Gold rating not good enough?
  3. As stated in MSI's webpage of B450 Gaming Plus. It says a BIOS update is necessary for 3rd gen CPU support because out-of-the-box it supports only 1st and 2nd gen. So this might void my warranty?

1 i would expect the 3700x to hold up well for the next few years. Only time will tell.

2 Nvidia reccomends a 450w or more for a 1660ti. A good 550 w is more than enough.

3 i dont believe flashing bios voids warranty. Msi has actually told me to uodate bios as a troubleshooting step before returning a bad board.
