I would like to know if these specs can be good for a gaming pc. I am really new at this and i want to build a good gaming pc that is preferably better than the ps4 specs and will last me a few years without upgrading anything. Also, the link is here:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7782889&sku=B69-1560

I am grateful for any additional info you guys could provide, for ex, how much will a pc cost minimally that will beat the ps4 or xbox720 specs and last about 1-3 years more with any new games on at least medium-high settings.

Solution
Hey, you could always start. 2 months ago, I didn't know a thing about computers. Now I'm a forum regular here. Buying my own build in 3 weeks, so I had to tweak to perfectness. Anyway, here's the final build, nothing changed.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($134.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($47.98 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung...
But. But, 4670k is 10% better at the same price. And i migt need something to occupy my time while i wait for the 9970. Tell you what. I'll do the same thing with this as i will with the 400R or the R4. I will wait for whichever goes on sale first.

Considering that Intel is still selling more 3570k's than 4670k's if you base your thought process on that, you'll buy the newer, slightly inferior product. Haswell will continue to get cheaper...note that the 3570k is *not* getting any cheaper? There's a reason for that...

As long it is a Intel Core i series processor you should good until DDR4 comes out. I love my 3570k the debate was same with the 2500k and 3570k a year ago. It get to a point that Tomshardware will have to recommend 4670k because the lack of 1155 motherboards in retail, along as you dont plan to overclock crazy haswell will be fine.

If you're overclocking to extreme levels Ivy is better than Haswell, but I highly doubt he will being going past 4.2 at best.

And Haswell uses less a lot less power.

This is kind of issue?

So 3570k is 100MHz faster.

How much that makes game give you better FPS?

So why not buy a intel xeon 1230V2 or V3? 😀 lol

Because the multiplier is locked on Xeons

As he's already said, he isn't planning on overclocking high.

Indeed, but it also means there's no need to loose 10% performance for the same price in the name of overclocking.

10% performance?? In what? He's not running heavily threaded productivity apps that would necessitate the need for HTT. He's mostly gaming...in gaming a 3570k = 3770k = Xeon.

There is no performance gain there...

So there is no performance boost from overclocking ither.
if you think this really hard. Deep. Then it is same are you going to buy 3770 or 4430 cpu. So why not xeon if you do not OC.
OC makes just cpu hotter and more noise. You need more fans to cool psdown. Xeon is cooler than any 3570k 3770k because it do not have iGPU. Itdo have HT + 8 Treads. It is cheap so whe not? You save mobo.
You do not need expensive OC able mobo. So why not? Xeon 1230V2 is faster than 3820. Runs cooler. So why not? Tell me.
Chip is sane as the 3770 only 100MHz slower. So why not?

Because the 3570k OC'ed to 4.5 GHz gives you a boost of 9 FPS in the very game your showing as a counter example.

Thanks for proving my point for me with a colored chart.

Wekk if you do not OC then you mayy buy 3570 (non k)
And then xeon is really much faster. And 3570k is not OC with any mobo to 4.5GHz
And you need good cooler to do that. Xeon you do not need any of these.
It just works way it works. In the end you get more stable pc and it will last longer than all out OC'd one. So what is then good buy in the end? 😀 One year 9FPS faster or 6years lasting 5 FPS slower? And gpu gives that same 5 FPS easy if you play 1080p resolution. Big plus is that HT + 8 treads. This comes free.

price is about the same so you can pick any :)

The 3570k will OC to more than 4.5 GHz typically on a Z77 board, and of course you need good cooling. You always do when you overclock.

Also, he would not benefit from HTT in any way, shape or form unless he was running heavily threaded applications. Since he is not, the difference is moot.

So what happens when PS and new xbox will come out with multi core cpu?
Maybe games are getting more benefit out of multi core cpu?
This means that HT comes handy. Same thing now. i3 can run games better than i3 without HT + extra treads. This will happen when 4 core cpu is getting to be old.. And you need upgrade it.

When it's time to upgrade, buy a new CPU + MB and other components...

HTT does not work in gaming...it's a proven fact...even games that "support" HTT don't really support HTT. In fact, Crysis 3 benchmarks (CE3 supports HTT) were HIGHER WITHOUT HTT on the 3770k and LOWER WITH HTT...

Google it.

HTT = fail.

Axl does have a point, OCing won't help for shit on games, while that hyper threading will help you in any game, application. You're essentially getting a 3770k without Intel Hd. I would get the Xeon if it were me.

Xeon or i5-4670k would be the best choice if he didn't want to OC, and since OCing gives you almost nothing in games and kills your part quicker I don't see why anyone would OC higher than 4.3~ on an i5.

I wish Intel would stop being so stupid and unlock the multiplier on all of their CPUs. AMD has for most of theirs.

Then why in Crysis 3 did a ~30% OC on the 3570k yield a 20% increase in FPS?

Because 3570k is too damn slow? 😀
How much did 3770k did kick more FPS when did OC? ^^

It actually gained less FPS...3570k gained 9 FPS, and 3770k gained 7 FPS.

Also, look at ALL the Crysis 3 benchmarks, in the rest of them the 3570k and 3770k have the same FPS. That one specific benchmark is particularly well threaded, the average for the game across the board is the same FPS for the 3570k and 3770k.

Okey.. Lets look some bed marks..
So how this OC's I made build. Try to guess the CPU GHZ and GPU memory + core speed. Still this pretty basic 1200$ build.

Why would you put an unlocked processor in a B85 board that doesn't support overclocking? Need a Z87 board...also, it's just a personal preference, but I wouldn't run Winblows 8 if it was the last OS on earth...
