Is this a good gaming rig?

Solution
I used to have a FX-8350 @ 4.6Ghz and then switched to a 4770K when my mobo died. To be honest, I don't feel a bit of difference while gaming. The benchmarks prove that Intel vomits powerful, efficient CPUs, but so what as long as you remain above 60 fps. Focus on your GPU. You can upgrade your CPU 3 years down the road on Black Friday.
AMD does exhaust a bit more heat. But if your case is well ventilated, there shouldn't be a problem.

And also, the reason I would choose an R9 280X is due to the 3 GB vram. 2 GB just doesn't cut it anymore. Games are now being developed with aesthetics in mind, not just graphics. And that begs for more memory.
WHY should he go with an r9 280x if he's using an AMD cpu??? There is no real correlation there, I believe, or else tell me the reason...

I still would recommend the 280x, though. Although the 770 is considered a bit faster, at the moment the AMD card is cheaper enough to justify that small difference.

You can go either way with a 770 or 280X. The only reason for the premium on nVidia is because of its power consumption and heat it exhausts. Otherwise the 280X is better by about an average 10 fps.

The MSI Twin Frozr and Gigabyte Windforce are some pretty cold cards that I would definitely look at. Whichever you think looks better, really. All up to you.
I myself chose MSI. It's so sexy with the Asus ROG mobo.

If you want to game as fluidly as possible the system will benefit more from a core i5 as it is similar enough in price to the fx-8350.

It's supposed to be the best in its class. But it requires a "750W (or greater) power supply with two 150W 8-pin PCI Express power connector recommended." The PSU you picked out should be no trouble, but I'd get one with an extra 100W leeway if I get this GPU.

If not that, then the Gigabyte Windforce

or the MSI Twin Frozr
