This is the first time I will be building a computer so I want to make sure I am doing this right.

The setup I picked out:
Mobo: SOLTEK "SL-K890PRO-939"
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
RAM: Corsair XMS extreame memory DDR pc-3200 (2X512)
Video: Chaintech GeForce 6600GT PCIe
Case: INWIN "X710" w/ 430w PSU
HDD: Maxtor Ultra Series Kit 120GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
I have old DVD drives I can use

Is this setup good? Would you recommend i change anything? Are all the parts compatible?

I know this might be alot of work but this is my final step before purchasing the parts.

Thank you

Looks like a really nice setup with which you can get some overclocking done.

Don't know anything about the Soltek but they're supposed to be good. Did you do some googling?

Also don't know the PSU, couldn't find the specs with a quick search. Make sure it's a good one, with modern systems a bad psu (especially low amps (less than 16) on the 12V rail) will gave you all kind of crashes.

Nevermind, just found it on the website. PSU seems to be alright though not very powerful. Might want another because of combined voltages:

I've used Soltek board since their nforce2 serie with great succes. You may see a review at neoseeker.com. Apart for the Maxtor drive, it should be a nice setup. I have a Maxtor here, and it run very hot... much more than my WD and my Seagates. All 4 are in the same case and I touched them, and the Maxtor is almost burning ..

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!

I'd suggest an nForce4 board.
