It all depends on what you want to play and at what resolution. This setup with a 7770 will play all moden games but at a medium resolution. I didn't look too far into it but it looks like you need to buy a HD, DVD and a few other things. Do you have the OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers already?

Add about $99 for the OS (windows 7 64 bit OEM) and the build that bigcyco1 posted is great. If you want to save because of the os the 7770 is not a bad option.

Windows 7 has proven it's self to be very good. As of now there are mixed reviews of windows 8. I always stick with what is proven vs what is new. When vista came out I waited and then decided to not upgrade from xp because it was a failure in my opinion. To me windows 7 is still your best bet.

8 is the future, it's going to get more support, it's fast, stable, fast, I haven't blue screened once or rebooted even in weeks, it's fast, and all the nice little features like the new task manager, explorer, copy graph, etc are nice little addon's.

Buy start8 for like $4 to get a good start menu and have it boot to the desktop and you never have to see the tile interface nor use it if you don't want to.

I'd go with 8, I've been using it since the public beta's started coming out and with start 8, it looks just like 7.

I guess you either work for Microsoft or you have issues. I never said it was bad and I'm not jumping on any bandwagon for windows 7. I was just posting my opinion. I never jump to a new os because it's new. I'll wait for a few months and have people like yourself spend the money and figure out if it's worth an upgrade. You take the chance and I'll spend my cash later on if it is such a big improvement like you believe. So what you are saying is that I should have jumped on Vista because it was new even though it had major issues?

Until Windows 8 is 18 months old or even until it reaches a Service Pack milestone Most people are not going to recommend it to strangers.
