I'll bet it's not a legitimate product. No one can afford to, or would choose to lose that much money if it were legitimate. I'm sure if you go to the Microsoft website and check the how to tell if it's legal page, you'll find it's not. Just because they're selling it online doesn't mean they should be.

There are a lot of OEM, brand new legit cd's, hitting the market now from resellers. They are mostly Dell, with some HP. They come with a key that is not counterfeit.

They are mostly from 2002; so you will have a lot of updating to do. I "purchased" (paid for shipping) an SP2 cd from M$ to make that process less tedious.

Most of them will install on any computer. Just make sure when you purchase that the seller states this. Some of the earlier ones had a bios check that required a proprietary mobo.

I've installed about 75 of these for customers, and they are working just fine; and are completely legit.

Buyer beware though; make sure the sellers state that install will work on any comp.

That one is Windows Home, no Pro, and yes, it is legit. I purchased one from Best Buy like a year ago and it was 40 buxs after all the rebates. (you need to stay alert for those promotions)

Most of my XP Pro OEM purchases were from edirectsoftware.

These were 2002 versions (all Dell) for $75. No SP's. They were installable on any machine. The guys running that site are up-front.

I believe they're all gone (not surprised at that price).

They are selling OEM Pro SP2's for $125.

I've seen Pro SP1's for $80-$90.

Again, buyer beware! Make sure the seller states that it will install on any pc. Not all OEM's will.
