A third puzzle. I don't have MS Word or Office so don't have the spell
check in OE. In W98se I installed a little program called Ispell which gave
me functionality with Spell Check in OE. I've just installed it on XP, but,
there is still no Spell Check in OE. Anyone had any experience with this
and know what the matter is?

Canopus

A Google search will get you something that will work within the XP
environment..

IE Spell works just fine with XP
"Check spelling" is a mouse rt. click option.

OE does not come with a spelling checker. It uses the spelling checker from
any Office program that has one. Do you have such a program?

If not you could try one of these:

Free spellchecker.
http://www.quinion.com/mqa/spell.htm
or this, which I use on my laptop, which has Works.

$15 shareware
http://www.spellchecker.com/

And here's a freeware that checks your spelling as you type:
TinySpell

I have Star Office (not installed yet), but, the spell checker in that
didn't activate the OE spell check in 98se hence the reason I used Ispell
whci doesn't seem to work for XP. I'm presuming the file system for XP is
different enough to 98se that it must install in the wrong place or else
there is a more fundamental incompatability. Will check out your links.

Thanks,

Rob

Great, the one from http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=2952&cat=10A
works a treat. Many thanks.

Glad to hear that, I have IESpell, but, haven't got around to re-installing
it yet. IESpell doesn't work in OE though and ISpell which is for OE
doesn't seem compatible to XP, but, have installed one that is now.

Use this spellchecker with OE http://www.geocities.com/vampirefo/ Then open
OE and go to Tools->Options and a new tab called Spelling will be listed.
Open that Tab and check the appropriate boxes.
ISpell gives spellchecking to Internet Explorer - for forums and other boxes
you type info in on the internet but as you now know it does not integrate
into OE.
