Hi there,

PC SPECS:

Motherboard: ASUS B85M-G Plus
CPU: i7-4770
Cooler: Arctic Alpine
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600mhz Kingston
PSU: Silverstone TX300
GPU: Yeston RX-550 4GB / Gigabyte GTX 1050ti 4GB

Note: This PSU was used previously from new with a Ryzen 5 2600x / GTX 1050ti

I made another post a couple of months ago but it received no replies - please if there more information required, or I am asking this question incorrectly, let me know how I can update it to be more helpful.

I have system which I put together with an Asus B85M motherboard, RX-550, and an i7-4770. All of these parts I received new, except the board which was used.

For 3 days the system ran fine with no issues, and then on the 4th day, there was no signal from the GPU or the onboard.

I followed the extensive guidelines on this forum thoroughly but I could not get this system to give a signal.

After much consideration I decided to order another board - this time an Asus B85M-G plus.

I first assembled only the necessary components and was able to post and get into the BIOS - everything reading normal. This was using the onboard DVI.

I shut down and install my new RX-550 (also tried a GTX 1050ti) - and on the next boot, no signal from either GPU or any onboard port.

Currently the CMOS battery is out and I will attempt (again) to see if this makes a difference.

Similar to the other non-plus board, the speaker makes no beeps or sounds at all. This replacement B85M-G plus board also made no beeps when I successfully entered the BIOS. I'm not sure what that is about either. I tested the speaker on another working system which does beep when booting up.

I am convinced that the system is expecting a GPU to be installed and that is why the onboard isn't working, but I have no ideas why both tested RX-550 and GTX-1050ti wont give a signal either.

Surely both boards didn't die in the same way one right after the other.

I have used this case with many other builds and I am sure there is nothing shorting out.

I'm really stumped on this one.

Any help, or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I managed to find an unopened VGA cable and discovered that while neither the DVI from either GPU nor the DVI from the onboard are giving a signal, the onboard VGA is giving a signal. If I install a GPU, the onboard VGA no longer gives a signal. Before I installed a GPU for the first time, the DVI onboard was giving a signal, but no longer does in any configuration.
Looking through the BIOS, there is no setting to select PCIe over onboard, or vice versa. I think I will attempt to test the HDMI signal, I just don't have a monitor handy at the moment.
Still, very odd that the onboard DVI was working initially and then stopped, no?

Thank you.
