Question Issues With ASUS Gaming Monitor

I have recently purchased an ASUS TUF Gaming VG24VQ monitor from Newegg. It's my first 144hz monitor, and the high refresh rate is great, but I am having some issues. When I scroll down text, it looks like the text goes bold quickly before looking normal again, like smearing (This happens in both DP and HDMI use) which is very distracting. I also noticed that the colors and contrast seem a bit off, and wanted to know if anyone had any osd or windows settings that could aid this. One last issue I noticed is that the screen seems to flicker on and off at random times (not too often), is this normal? It could be the DP cable that ASUS included in the box, but I am not sure. I did try tinkering with the osd settings but these issues persisted. I don't want to return this monitor because I got a great deal, but I will if neccesary. Slowmotion Video

Have you installed the latest drivers and software? If that's the case, it could also potentially be your GPU settings overlapping your monitor settings. I would rule out any cabling issue since you've tried both GPU and the HDMI.

By the settings overlapping, do you mean the OSD and the GPU settings overlapping? Should I try disabling stuff like freesync on both devices? I already have freesync disabled on the monitor.
