Yes, one of Itanium's big features is its huge amount of cache... So Montecito should have 2 cores @ 2Ghz or more and with at least a 533Mhz FSB (8.5GB/s)and an absurd 24MB of cache... it's really pathetic. This thing will be a monster.

What about tanglewood, the 8-16-core Itanium? This beast should have even more cache!!!! frightening...

Almost as frightening as the 128MB of L3 cache on modern Power4+ packages and the future Power5 packages.

hmm too bad you can't play most (probably not any) current games on it 🙁 I probably would be the best gaming cpu avaible if only you could actually play current games on it!

Captain Obvious wonders why so many people would want one!

As it requires special 64bit programming no current games or PC based programs would work on it. Its a specialist Server chip(s)!

Oh well... I'd want one too, just for fun... it's like a fancy car. Who needs one? Noone. Who wants one? another story...

Captain, you're no fun.
Reasons:
1)so you could say you have the biggest e-penis
2)so you could load quake 3 entirely into your cache and play it running a 32-bit emulator
3)so you have the worlds largest personal computer heating system
4)so this gives you a reason to hold all the lan parties at your house. see #1
5)so you could throw some popcorn on the cache and watch it pop
6)see #1
7)Just because it would be the biggest baddest server out there. Hey, you just might lend a few cycles to a university or something
