This is old news, actually. Romero's been working on it since the project
started and that was several months ago (to public knowledge anyway).

Since his ousting from Ion Storm, he's been busy making games for mobile
platforms -- I forget the name of the company, but I assume it either went
under (again) or he's left it to pursue this Gauntlet game. He never really
stopped working at all.

Icewind Dale was a horrible RPG because it felt just like a Gauntlet game
(hordes of nameless enemies, endless dungeon crawls, no compelling
storyline). But I suppose that's a good thing since Sawyer is now working on
an actual Gauntlet title.

Actually he did Red Faction for the N-Gage. I heard it's a pretty bad ass
game, considering the limitations of the platform.

Daikatana wasn't so much as a horrible game as it was a horrible tragedy of
hype. Coming out with the game about 2 years too late was tragic. But they
really drove the nail into the coffin with the "Romero will make you his
bitch" ads.

The last time I heard anything about him he was working for THQ on a
version of Red Faction for the Nokia N-Gage. That was 2ish years ago at E3.
I think that game got pretty good reviews.

I loved IWD. The sound was great, the music was superb. The story was
above-average for a hack-n-slash, and the graphics (to me) were pretty, if
maybe a tad dated looking. I loved some of the dungeons. Severed Hand was
very cool. Other parts were also.

After watching the demo video of the new Gauntlet on Gamespot I'm pretty
impressed by it. I probably will not buy it when it first comes out but it
will definitely be on my "wait and see" list.

That was a problem, along with the "excess" that was Ion Storm. There were
tons of "look at how cool our offices are" articles before we ever saw a
game.

On the Raven site they list Romero as Executive Producer for Heretic.

Well of course he was. Raven worked with iD to make Heretic. iD had a
big part in the game, mainly because it was their engine and Raven
needed the assistane. That allowed Romero to get his name on the
credits, but it was still a mainly-Raven game. I wouldn't be surprised
if Carmark gets ExProd-status for Quake 4.

Haven't there already been a billion Gauntlet games since the original?

Finally dropped that rediculous ascii art eh?

Yes, you are correct, there have been Gauntlet games since the original.
Shortly after Gauntlet was released in the arcades they did a port of it
over to all the 8-bit computers that were out at the time (Apple II, Atari
ST, C64, ZX Spectrum) as well as to the then reigning consoles (NES and
SMS).

Then surprisingly in what must have been one of the first expansion packs
for a game in my memory was Gauntlet: The Deeper Dungeons for the C64 and
the ZX Spectrum.

Two years later Atari made Gauntlet II for Amiga, Atari ST, C64, DOS, NES,
ZX Spectrum, etc. I think that game also had an arcade version.

They did a Gauntlet 3 also for Amiga, ST, C64, etc.

I remember Electronic Arts, back when they were a real game house for real
gamers, made a gauntlet-style game that I cant remember the name of right
now but it let you design your own levels and stuff. They were really into
the "construction set" games at the time.

Then there was a pretty long gap until Midway created Gauntlet Legends
which was based on the coin-op I think that used the same name (definitely
had the same graphics, I remember seeing it in a comic-book/RPG shop once).
This game was 3D gauntlet, you went around with the same 4 characters
wasting everything as usual but it was all in 3D. That game came out in
1999. This game was released on Dreamcast (one of the better games for that
platform IMHO), N64, and Playstation. I have this for the DC.

Seems like there also at near this time a game called Get Medieval which
was essentially a Gauntlet you could play over the internet by Monolith
Studios. I remember it was pretty fun but it didn't sell that great. I
think you can still buy it for like a dollar or something now. 😛

Then in 2001 someone (Midway?) did a sequel to Legends called Guantlet Dark
Legacy. This one came out on Playstation 2 first, then followups for the
GameCube and Xbox were made. And they did a version for the GBA. I think
this is the one that changed up the characters some where you could play a
Fool and several other characters (at least 8 different classes I think). I
think I have this one for PS2 maybe. Or maybe not. Must not have been too
great. :)

So yeah, this is not the first Gauntlet since the original, but it's an all
new start to the franchise. It looks pretty cool, I'm definitely keeping an
eye out on it. I loved the original Gauntlet and also liked Guantlet
Legends quite a bit.

I support that, well I actually mean the power of the machine to process the
A.I. I recall when I played MechWarrior 3, Dominic Paine (My A.I. Lancemate) is
simply a pain in the arse when he keeps smashing his Annihilator's cockpit on
the conveyor belt and got himself killed in one of the map (underground mining
facility), this happen when I played on a lower spec. machine. Later when I
upgraded to a better machine (way better), he seems getting a lot smarter and
actually being useful in battle.

Regards.

Yeah, but they started their relationship years before she turned 18.

In most of Europe, as well as in most of America, the age of sexual consent
is lower than age of legal majority.

Regardless, a 15-year-old is hardly considered prepubescent.

Isn't 16 the age of sexual consent in most of the US. Regardless, I still
find it morally wrong for a guy as old as him to hook up with someone as
young as her. I seem to recall reading that he has 2 children who are around
the same age as her.

Lets say she was 20 and he was 40. Something morally wrong with that?

Let's say she was 7 and he was 27, anything wrong with that ? After all, when

I think it is pretty apt Jim. If she was 20 and he was 40, few people
would complain...and mostly it would be off comments like "robbing the
cradle" and "couldn't he find some his own age" or "she must have some
nice tang"

The problem is that there is a moral quandary when he is 35ish and she
is 18ish..

Not a stupid question. She was NOT 7, he was NOT 27. She was 18, remember?
If there's something "morally wrong" with an older person marrying someone
much younger what's the point at which it becomes immoral? Society says 18.
I see nothing immoral here.

I bet that if you had a 15 year old daughter that was being contacted
