I just bought a Q6600 and I was wondering if this chip will run fine in a 32 bit environment or do I need to run a 64 bit software? Pretty much will this run on Windows XP Pro 32 bit?

Of course. It's has capabilities for 64 bit OS like Vista 64.

I dunno... I've seen some pretty dumb questions here. However, the OP's question in this instance wasn't one of those.

The only dumb question is the question NOT asked.

The Q6600 is a 32 bit CPU with 64bit Extensions. It will run 32/64bit applications with no problem.

Have worked a helpdesk for both Software and hardware, nothing you can come up with, I haven't already heard..

My coffee cup holder thingy broke, it won't go back inside my PC..

I put my 3 1/2 floppy disk in the tray, but now the tray is stuck in the PC..

My monitor doesn't work.. (ME) plug it back in.. (them) click...

yeah, yeah i have heard a lot in my 15+ year career as a helpdesk/programmer, but I always put it in perspective, not everyone is a computer geek, while I know computers very well, I couldn't tear down a car engine and rebuild it as well as a mechanic.

Put things in perspective, beyond the nose on your face, and you'll actually see the worth of, There is no stupid question but the one not asked.

You should however, consider getting a 64-Bit OS, unlike what most haters say, they are actually great. You know what they say... When you go 64-bit, you don't go back...

Thank you all for your help. I thought it ran both but after reading the package more I was second guessing myself.
