Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading my sad old machine to something like:
K7S8X motherboard, AthlonXP 2000+, 512mb PC2700

However, on the Asrock website I can't find any detailed info about what
requirements the board has for memory (i.e. is non-parity 2.5CL ok? how
important is it to have branded memory etc?)

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Richard

The best jump-off point for Asrock is this link:
http://www.asrock.com.tw/index_sitemap.htm

If you cannot find info on the Asrock site, trace down the chipset:
http://www.sis.com/products/chipsets/oa/socketa/746fx.htm
http://www.sis.com/ddr/ddr_validation.htm

The manual mentions a speed versus number of banks limit.

Another board you might consider, is Asus A7N8X-X.
