[SOLVED] Keep my i7-6700 or get a newer Ryzen 5 1600

I’m building a new gaming pc
I’m wondering if should I keep my i7-6700
or get a Ryzen 5 1600 or 2600 or something I didn’t get the parts yet so any suggestions?

For strictly gaming, the 2600 or 1600 would not be a big upgrade, if at all.

if you stream, or do professional work, like editing and stuff, the upgrade will be massive.

for now, get a psu, new gpu and whatever else youre buying and plug them into your old ram, mobo and cpu.

upgrade it in a few years when there will be something super cheap that would be better.

Besides that i7, what hardware do you have right now?

i have i7-6700 and a rx580 and 600w psu from my old Pc the motherboard Broke so I’m really just getting a case and a motherboard

The only reason I’m considering getting a new Ryzen cpu is because I need a new motherboard and that am4 socket

What RAM do you have? Ryzen is best with 3000mhz+.

It’s a gskill kit with 2400mhz they are wearing out so was going to get an upgrade

What's the exact PSU? If you're having a motherboard die and RAM "wear out," it would be wise to evaluate the PSU, especially considering you just call it a "600W" PSU, not an actual something.

Ouch. I'd replace that too when making upgrades; the TR2s have been a notorious "stay away" line for a decade thanks to costed down designs and cheap components. Thermaltake power supplies are only interesting when you're talking about their higher-end Toughpower ones.
