Well.. i played 1 Guild-wars2 Beta on my brothers PC (Amd phenom x4 955 black + 2x 4870 HD) while i just sold my laptop to build new pc.... but on my bro's pc it ran at lowest quality (still on 1920x1080) and even then it lagged.. while 2x 4870 were still pretty powerful imo.... Maybe the settings in GW2 weren't optimal since it's just a Beta.. but still...

FYI the Guild Wars 2 beta client is NOT optimized yet. During the most recent beta weekend event it was CPU bound and was only utilizing 1 core. Players with top of the line graphics cards and CPUs were even lagging/crashing at times. Don't start wasting money on a new PC based on one beta event on a client that isn't optimized yet.

Thnx... My brother is going to like it when i tell him this 😛 he was already affraid he had to upgrade PC for GuildWars2

missing any pages? :pt1cable:

I've been running BF3 at 40 frames on High using a small-ish monitor (17" 9:6, 1240x1080) because my 1920x1080 is in the shop. I was running at 35 frames on Medium with the larger screen. AMD Is more than capable of handling games, and that x4 955 should have zero issues running GW2 when the game is polished up and shipped out this year.

System:
AMD Athlon II x3, 455
4Gb G.Skill 1333Mhz
gtx 550ti (Oc'd to 975Mhz)

(AKA, the bare minimum)

I'm planning on upgrading to the ivy processor/Z77 mobo because my computer is getting to the breaking point with these new games, and especially my larger, newer monitor.

As you can see from the benchmarks, the GeForce GTX 670 is going to be a serious burden on top of AMD this time as this awesome video card completely obliterates the HD 7970 with ease. However nothing has been said over the price of the graphics card for how much it will retail in the market...

Woohooo! Hopefully this will retail for $400... I'd really hate to see them crank this up to the $500 range. Maybe they will even put this one at $350, and have the 670ti be at $450... I can dream can't I??

Grrr....I just snagged an ASUS GTX 680 off newegg a few minutes ago. Currently back to being "out of stock" so I guess I got lucky, but was contimplating over getting a single GTX 680 or a pair of 670s for SLI. If they retail at $400 I might be slightly dissapointed. Anything less than $400 i'll shoot myself in the foot.

Kepler thread.
You have been incognito lately. The GTX 670 leaked benchmarks are passe by now, but the rest of the reviews should be out on May 10th. As I'm sure Saint has the inside scoop, I would be pretty excited about this card.

As a comeback, AMD is announcing its "GHZ" edition of the 7970. They think it's only about clock speeds and relative performance, but they miss out on the bigger picture.

Like HardOCP pointed out in their review of the Witcher 2:
"The 5.4% faster performance the Radeon HD 7970 experienced did not make any noticeable improvements in gameplay. In fact, the GeForce GTX 680 actually provided a better gameplay experience through the entire level. While it was just a little slower, the framerates were much more consistent at all times than the Radeon HD 7970. The GeForce GTX 680 handled the game better at these settings with smoother and more consistent gameplay."

so those TT benchies look like the "leaked" benchmarks a few months ago that all the AMD fanboy said were false, really weren't off. the 670 spanking to 7970 . . . .

Big surprise..........once again AMD= Another Major Dissapointment. :kaola:

A review of the 4gb Palit GTX 680 Jetstream:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/palit-geforce-gtx-680-4gb-jetstream-review/

"The 4GB -- Realistically there was not one game that we tested that could benefit from the two extra GB's of graphics memory. Even at 2560x1600 (which is a massive 4 Mpixels resolution) there was just no measurable difference."

"Now the setup could benefit from triple monitor setups at 5760x1080 (which is a 6 Mpixels resolution), but even there I doubt if 4 GB is really something you'd need to spend money on. It might make a difference at 16xAA and the most stringent games, or if you game in 3D Stereo and triple monitor gaming -- I mean sure -- at any point graphics memory can and will run out. There's one exception to the rule, and that's Skyrim all beefed, tweaked and modded upwards. But the universal question remains, is it worth it investing in that extra memor? This card is 90 EUR more expensive. Well that answer depends on pricing versus your demands and requriements really, the extra memory certainly won't hurt that's for sure, but sure -- the benefits remains small."

hey! where are those BF3 benchmarks?
do i smell a FAIL!

wait until i tell the AMd fanboys . .they'll fall for anything
