PhysX is not just random crap flying around on your screen :)

Essentially, it lets you more interactively navigate within a gaming world. Enhanced character effects, clothing, liquid effects, smoke, fog, hair, windows and pretty much anything else that can have it's own physical properties can benefit from PhysX. Batman Arkham City is an awesome example of PhysX and it's barely scratching at the surface of what we'll see in years to come. Nvidia, exclusively, has my business as long as they have PhysX!

NOW you tell me.

i really need a sarcasm tag, got one?
<sarcasm>
that doesn't look too good . . .

lol. I kind of knew you were being sarcastic, but I didn't want to just dismiss it as that. Some people really don't know what it's for. I've heard of people thinking it was a performance enhancement or that it improved shadows... it's amazing what people believe without taking time to do research!

That tag should be <sarcasm>"Sarcastic remark" </sarcasm> btw! Hahaha

See? hahaha

So, any update regarding the lil' GK104 incarnation or the big brother?

The 7800 series arrived this week over here, so I'm very tempted... They got really cheap (the 7870 is in 6950 territory and the 7850 in 6870 territory).

Cheers!

The 670s and their variant aren't going to be around until May, I believe. The big bad motha should be around Q3, but that is anyone's guess. My understanding was that Nvidia has a dual GPU ready, or close to it, for when AMD releases theirs.

Yea same here. NVIDIA will release the rest when they see fit. its kinda like those movies where the Bad guy is dancing in the street and the hero jumps down to take a swing at him. The the other gets back up to regroup.

AMD hasn't officially announced their dual GPU, the latest news story I read was predicting April 19th for the 7990 to possibly see some light. The thing is, it was going to be released in February too, and in March (lol); it's hard to trust the information, but I do think we'll see at least one mfr's dual GPU this month, maybe. Pretty much everything I've seen for the GTX 690 indicated May, but there isn't anything reliable enough that I would even bother to link it. I prefer not to blindly guess at this stuff and neither company seems to be forthright with information. :)

It makes sense that Nvidia would want to keep up with AMD's release, I think they will be severely limited on how many cards they can produce either way. I'm sure they'd like to give the 680 a little time to spread it's wings and at least get the supply chain moving. That, to me, seems to be the biggest factor. I have no doubt they could have a card ready to go already, but releasing it so soon after the 680s when there hasn't even been a steady flow of the base model doesn't seem like good business. Like I said, my understanding is they want to release it relatively close to AMD, that doesn't mean it's realistic expectations. We'll see...

I'm of the same opinion. When the HD 6990 and GTX 580 were released, it was within two or three weeks of each other, with (you guessed it) Nvidia being the late party. As much as Nvidia would, I'm sure, love to keep that same differential with the new dual GPU's, the supply issues are likely going to set them back a few weeks.

I'm fan of msi so I have no choice. And btw I dont care because my case doesn't have a window xD

Yea thas a good thing about cases without a window. you have have to worry about what it looks like until you make a build run around. As for me i just ordered a Trooper Side Window from CM. But i still support the idea of "Don't care about looks, More Performance!"

looking at GTX680 i think nvidia should be able to keep GTX690 around 300w if they want to. to me it seems that both amd and nvidia don't want to release their dual flagship before the competition did so.

Off topic:

does MSI have something similar to EVGA Precision X?

Yes, MSI has MSI Afterburner.
