I've heard there was a mouse for the xbox out there, which I thought would solve my problem and let me play with the kids on their consoles. I'm an old school PC gamer, can't handle those silly inferior controllers.

Turns out there is a product out there, too lazy to google and link to it right now, but apparently it tracks the mouse only as quick as it tracks an analog stick. Kinda defeats the purpose, and would only offend a PC gamer trying their tried and true controls out on an xbox.

So it's not just the physical control that's inferior, it's the input limits on the hardware itself. You can go out and get the mouse that would work, it just wouldn't respond like a PC gamer is used to. I can only assume that's why that auto-aim is in there, because it's not a good enough platform natively.

There once was a man who said,
"FPS on PC is Dead".
But, when something was tried outside of the norm,
And they played PC and Console players across their platform.
The Console players all got shot full of lead.

So, we take your silly comments in stride,
For in the PC player's skill, we take pride.
When we use superior keyboard and mouse,
You console players can get out of our house!

😀

[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]We can argue all day about which is superior but the numbers do not lie. There are exponentially more people playing shooters on the consoles than they are on the PC...[/citation]
You don't know what "exponential" means do you?

I have a PS3 and I play Killzone 2, Battlefield 1943, and Uncharted with ease but even the fantastic Dualshock 3 controller will never, NEVER replace my mouse and keyboard.

This kind of moronic statement makes me laugh. You want to play FPS on console and not PC? Have at it, my friend. It's not my loss. There will always be those of us that know the vast superiority of KB+mouse for shooters.

[citation][nom]dark_knight33[/nom]Worst use of existing IP evar! I'd rather replay Shadowrun on Sega or SNES. The only reason I have a Gensis is that game. The one released for PC is incredibly stupid.[/citation]

My thoughts exactly. There is so much potential in the Shadowrun IP for the MMO market and it is just sitting there going to waste. I would learn to code for an opportunity to work on that project if it ever came to light. Biggest mistake was trying to make an FPS out of it. Shame on MS.

I seem to remember reading on article on how Microsoft abandoned cross-platform shooters because mediocre PC players were destroying veteran console players...

That guy is either not taking his med's or is taking to MANY! Place hands on neck and squeeze, proceed to pull away to remove cranium from rectum.

The last console I used was the super nintendo... I just saw my first xbox last week! I play everything on the computer.. if I cant play it on windows, I wont play it.

And begin flamewar on these here thread.

I can't believe someone from MS would say that. That's just retarded. In MY opinion, and seemingly everyone else's, PC with the mouse will ALWAYS be the most precise and best way to hardcore frag in FPS. Also SCREW auto-aim on consoles, seriously. It's how they compensate for sucking. Now don't get me wrong, I have the first gen 360 and slim PS3, love them both, but I still LOVE to game on my laptop. Nothing beats it, even it its lacking the graphical or processing power of a console. It still ROCKS.

There are mind blowing immersion possibilities with Kinect. Scan in a toy gun and use that in one hand. Guide the player motions with the other hand by moving your hand where you want the game to look. Use the toy gun to shoot or your fingers. Many interesting ways you can use this new tech. The PC currently is the best FPS and RTS platform out there for people that don't use assisted aiming tech. The future will find things becomming more muddy but currently there isn't really a break-away hit. I for one would be quite happy with some off-rails shooters using Kinect technology.
The statements made originally by this Kinect guy were obviously meant to spark a debate and so he did a good job there.

I guess if I was trying to sell stuff on an Xbox I might say that too. But since im not, I say that the truth is PC FPS will always be > Console FPS.

I admit, console fps has come a long way. But PC fps is where its at man!!!

If you play a game on the console, and play the same game on a good PC... There has never been any comparison. Better graphics, controlls and as mentioned about no auto aim.

Then you got the cheese balls releasing console port ins like MW2... Which I will never give in and buy. For you guys that are hard core FPSers try battlefield bad company 2... It doesn't get any better than that nowadays.

AIM BOT?!?! Oh... You mean CHEATING! Might as well just watch a movie and not play if you all these "Mechanisms" consoles give you to "Help" you play...

True, this guy is beyond stupid. Especially being director of Kinect, which I predict will be a disaster, but then again I can't predict the behavior of stupid teenagers who are easily amused.

Either way, the limited scope of Kinect makes badmouthing any other platform laughable. You certainly aren't going to be playing FPS with that thing, unless you like running around your living room and placing your foot in a certain position to turn left or right and making "pew-pew" noises with your fingers.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]you forget that there is a aimbot in the console and pc version if you use a controler.thats aside i cant play console fps games. i hate using a controller, and the whole time im playing it im thinking that i could play as good with my feet as i do with my hands, i tried it for a week, and i came very close to playing as good with my feet as i can with my hands. and i watched people who suck at console fps game and who are good at it, you know what i noticed? the people who suck dont know of the games aim bot and mechanisms to make the game easier for them, and the people who know about them, weather they know what the exact terms are called or not, know of them ant take advantage of them. its not like a computer player who aims at it, its they aim near enough for the game to kick in and do the rest.[/citation]

Simply put it, consoles have larger hit boxes than PCs.
