L1 Bridges to close or not to close.

I am about to put together an Asus A7V and athlon 900mhz, buying it because its cheap, dont see any real reason to over clock it right off the bat, but i know to do this you must first close the L1 bridges, with a Pencil, do you suggest that i close them even if I am not yet going to overclock it, or should i wait, is there any harm or performance issues with having an non overclocked processor with closed L1 bridges. and if i do close them and wait a year should the pencil still be there and work for me. or will it eventually wear off.

Depends on what you use for closing those bridges.. if you are planning to use Graphite, then dont' do it until you decide to O'clock.

If you are using PCB Pen, then by all means do it..

It won't damage your CPU... make your your heatsink sits properly though.

Oh and be sure NOT TO CONNECT ALL THE BRIDGES, i.e. only connect the two facing connects, and NOT the adjacent ones. I did this and it will cause your computer not to post to the bios!!!!!!!!!

i would close them first installing the heatsink once lessens the likelyhood that you might crush the core.

I agree...close them anyway...saves you the trouble of removing the HSF when you decide to try an overclock. You lose the warranty, but couldn't you just rub away the graphite and swear blind you never did a thing? Thats if you even need to use the warranty...something which probably wont happen.
