If there is no link light, then the ethernet port is dead. you can always try reinstalling your network drivers.

I've come across this before and the PC is showing connected. The Pc had a static IP address and the patch cable was faulty (green pair only). didn't have a replacement cable so re-terminated the original using brown pair instead of green. Problem solved. But it was a 10/100 LAN not gigabit.
