I just bought this used HP EliteBook 840 G6 laptop with an i7-8665u CPU, then tested it with Geekbench and Userbenchmark to find out if it was scoring a lot lower than than what other i7-8665u CPUs are scoring.
On Geekbench it got a score of 536 for single and 1358 for multi .. I'm not sure what I can do about this 😭

I Just removed all the random apps and disabled all cosmetic features that lower performance but that's about it. Pls help

Mobile chips are heavily scalable. If your model of laptop has it at 20W and the rest have it at 50-100 your will have lower performance.

Not really it's set by the manufacturer based on their thermal solution. You can try upping the power limit in windows but you'll cut your battery significantly.

\\EDIT BTW the CPU has a max config of 25W so that and cooling is likely the culprit
So it's not a faulty in the CPU or the computer as a whole ?

Depends what you want from it. It is a 6 year old U class CPU after all. At least you might be able to upgrade the RAM and SSD?
I've actually wanted it for playing light games like Roblox which it isn't running very well at medium graphics , the ram is decent at 16gigs of 2400mhz DDR4 ram and a 512gb m.2
I paid 290$ for it .
The Geekbench score is lower than my i3-10110u laptop with 12 gigs of ram so I should probably return it right ?

If the performance isn't good enough for you then yes if you can. If you just want to run games maybe look at something like a steam deck. They run between 350 and 600 and there's plenty of benchmarks available for you to look at performance
