Laptop to TV ??

Is there a gadget that you can buy to hook a laptop into the TV and use the TV as the monitor?

Am sure I have heard of such a thing, but am totally blank as to what to ask for.

Many contemporary laptops have composite video or svhs outputs for TV connection. My groovy Compaq Presario for example
