Hi all,

Trying to find a use for a Lenovo Ultra Slim DVD Drive that I retrieved from my old (and now broken) Lenovo Thinkpad T61. I know there are external cases/caddies for laptop drives that allow connection to computers via USB. The Ultra Slim has an I/O connection, however, that is not familiar to me (follow link for image).

1. What is this connection type? Lenovo-specific?
2. Would it work with the following caddy?:

3. If not, are there ways to use it externally via USB?

Thanks.

I wasn't really convinced the connector was a standard IDE type laptop drive connector (and now I know since I found a real IDE type one for comparison). So I took my old and broken lenovo apart to see whether there was an adapter piece between MB and drive. After two bloody fingers; Merde......, there was none and I ripped off the copper threads of the MB with the connector piece. I also ripped off the plastic of the slim drive hoping to find an adapter that I could remove, but again Nichts! Alrite. What did I learn.... Lenovo likes to use non-standard connectors in their laptops. Fingers still hurt. jhj
