[SOLVED] LG 27GN950-B can't choose 1440p on Windows 11?

So I am trying to help a buddy out. He has a new PC(RTX 3070) and a 4K monitor(LG 27GN950-B). He wants the native 4K monitor to output 1440p because he wants the competitive advantage of better frame rate. But he can't set custom resolutions through NVIDIA Control Panel or Windows Settings. NVIDIA control panel greys out the custom option and I don't know why(he cant use DSR because he has a 4K monitor). We've tried CRU too and it won't work. So he just wants it set to 1440p and we can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas? Am I being dumb and this isn't possible for some reason?

Solution
have you tried 150% scale?
in desktop settings, I used to have a 4k monitor and ran it at 150% scale as that is equal to the resolution he wants.
I got sick of running that scale so now have a 2k monitor instead - LG 32GK650F-B

in win 11 its system/display

click on Scale under Scale & layout
set it to 150

On win 10 it defaulted mine to 150
