i can imagine the phone salesman now...

"this phone has so many pixels that you can't even tell them apart! and this phone has even more pixels than that one! and this one has so many pixels, it transports you into the 4th dimension!"
 
when they manufacture an lcd panel, it was not manufactured on several sizes , but in a single size like 2 feet by 4 feet, and from there , the panel cut into smaller pieces.
When they cut into certain sizes, lots of left over deem to be not usable for bigger screen like 13 inch and above , but good for those 6 or 7 inch sizes
