[SOLVED] LG Monitor is cycling through options

Hello, so basically i have left this monitor out of use for a couple months and when i went to plug it in it, the monitor started to randomly cycle through the hardware video options very quickly and then suddenly turn off. I know the cable still works and that its receiving power but I'm just not exactly sure how to fix this.

my first thought would be a broken or malfunctioning settings button.
make sure that control buttons are not stuck in a depressed position.
if they appear normal maybe just rotate them around a bit and be sure they are not sticking.

the fact that it eventually powers down on it's own may point to something worse though.
if you can't determine what's causing it contact manufacturer tech support and request an RMA.
