I just bought a wireless adapter for my pc, and it won't connect to my wireless Linksys router downstairs. They're both compatible because it says on the box, and I've used it with my Xbox and my Wii and it worked fine. My computer is getting a strong signal and it connects but I dont have internet access. I even turned off my network security just to make sure and still no luck. Anyone have suggestions?

Check you haven't turned on Access Control (include or exclude by MAC id) in the router.

Alternatively you may have a faulty wireless adapter -- you seem to indicate that the router is okay with Xbox and Wii -- but, if poss, check the new unit with another router.

The wireless adapter does work, I connected to my neighbor's network to test it and it worked fine, though I don't like stealing their connection, I'd like to get my own working.

Then as fihart said, you've probably got access control running on the router.
check the router controls for what protection you have running
