Please add the following hardware (all in 32-bit Vista)

NVidia 7900GS (Gigabyte brand) works great
Microsoft FA3-00010S Black USB Ergonomics Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000
HP PSC1315 All-in-one Printer
HP Photosmart 330 (Yay, built in Vista drivers means no more HP bloatware required!)

PeerGuardian® v2.0 Beta 6b (32 Bit) is not compatible and will not install on windows vista.

PeerGuardian v2.0 for Windows 98/ME (blocks TCP only) is compatible and installs on works on windows vista. http://forums.phoenixlabs.org/showpost.php?p=96547&postcount=52
haker0 "we don't have an ETA for a vista compatible version of PG2
yes we are hoping to have it done soon but there have been delays because of complications with the driver
for now you can use the 9X version because it is better then nothing but it only blocks TCP connections

the Vista OS has not even been publicly released yet so any user that choses to use it should expect some incompatibility
users cant expect applications for an OS if the OS itself is not even ready yet"

www.bluetack.co.uk B.I.S.S. Blocklist Manager v2.6.5 BLMInstall265.exe Is compatible with windows vista with no problems.

B.I.S.S. Protowall 201B9_18apr06_beta is only vista compatible/functions only after a fix is applied. Only drawback is logging of blocked ip's isnt visible but protowall does block ip's that are imported from b.i.s.s. blocklist manager. Suggested Protowall Fix is here which shows how to disable ipv6. Full topic here for vista protowall fix http://www.bluetack.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=16458

Kaspersky Internet Security v6.0.2.614 installs and works great. Needs the Kaspersky Vista patch downloaded from the Kaspersky site http://www.kaspersky.com/productupdates?chapter=186437046
Updating through an already installed Kaspersky doesnt work properly. Also May need to go into Settings Anti-Hacker/Zones tab and untick Internet Stealth mode setting for some p2p software to connect properly.

Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle installs and works properly. http://tor.eff.org

The ANTEC Fusion Case has a VFD application that connects system information to the small LCD display in the case. VFD installs without a problem, but it never connects to the LCD display under Vista 32 Bit, it stays in disconnected status.

I made a few google search for this but couldn't get an answer.

I'm getting a new PC this week with dual-boot, WXP 32-bit and WVista Home Premium 64-bit. I should get it by friday.

My router at home is a D-Link DI-524. It doesn't seem to be compatible. My question is, will it work to configure my router should anything bad happen... and will it permit me to access the internet at all if already configured through my present PC? As long as I can access the internet everything should be fine, as I can boot to WXP to configure it should anything happen.

I'm at work right now but will check your answer from home later.

Thanks.

P.S.: I'm ditching D-Link if I have to upgrade my router for lack of support.   Any recommendation if that's the case? Not too expensive but reliable.

A big thanks.

Right now it my main stress source. Imagine coming back home to plug my computer and finding I can't get on the net with it but under XP

I'll come bak to let you know when my PC will be ready next week (freakin' OCZ 2GB DDR2-800 and Asus X1950Pro are B/O until next thursday).

What I am looking for is a Security Suite that is Windows Vista compatible if not then combinations of software that can cover all the feattures that Zone Alarm Security Suite 7 has.

Outlook 2000 doesn't seem to work flawlessly on Vista 32-bit. Address book feature doesn't work. It generates a wab.dll error. I tried installing a downloaded wab.dll and wab32.dll in the system and system32 folders, but no luck, so no known fix.

The rest of office 2000 seemed to work fine but I only tested with light usage.

This might need to be sticky'd. I lost my optical drives and almost didn't figure out why. Well, here's why:

"Important Patch for Windows Vista Users!

ArcSoft applications that do not specifically list Windows Vista in their system requirements are not intended for use on Windows Vista. If you choose to install a non-Vista application on your Vista system, please install the very important patch detailed below.

Who needs to install this important patch:
All users who have installed a non-Vista application on a system running Windows Vista, including owners of any ArcSoft applications purchased before January 8, 2007.

Why you need to install this important patch:

1) Some ArcSoft applications include a CD/DVD driver that does not install properly on Vista resulting in CD/DVD drives not being visible after restarting the system. The patch will properly install the CD/DVD driver, thereby making the drives visible. The patch is strongly recommended for all of ArcSoft's non-Vista products.
See a list of non-Vista applications that require this patch.

2) By installing this patch, the ArcSoft Updates & Patches feature (found in the menu system of most ArcSoft applications) will provide you with direct access to future Vista-related updates.

Download ArcSoft Universal Vista Patch:

1) Download this file to your Vista system

2) Double click to run it and follow the on-screen prompts

3) Restart the system

Please note, this patch resolves the two issues detailed above but does not make your ArcSoft application Vista-compatible. After the patch is installed, please launch the software and use the automatic update feature (found in the main menu) to automatically find and install the latest update to make your software Vista-compatible. See a list of programs for which this free Vista update is available."

Very useful thread, Ninja.

Thought I'd add a couple myself:

(64 bit version, this)

Can't see any mention of Paintshop Pro 8. It won't install.

Hitman : Blood Money version 1.0 works fine but if you patch it to 1.2 it won't load.

Tomb Raider : Legend works (but only with the latest nVidia drivers)

Hardware-wise, you could add Geforce 7900GTX, if you can be bothered (as 7900GT is listed) and ABIT KN8 Ultra (m'board). Both working a treat.

For what it's worth, Adaptec 2903 SCSI controllers are NOT supported as there are no drivers. Nor do I think there ever will be!

Well, that's my 2 cents worth.

Cheers,

Does anyone know if I will have any problems with a motherboard using the nforce4 chipset? It's an ECS nforce4-a754. I appreciate any help with this question.

No problem at all. Just get the latest drivers from nVidia and you'll be fine. As previously noted I'm using the EPoX EP-8NPA nForce4 SLI and it's working fine.

Here's my config that works fine with Vista32 and Vista64.

Abit K8N NF4 Ultra board, Base install and with the Nforce 15.00 drivers

HighPoint 2300 SATA raid controller (has both 32 and 64 bit drivers).

It should be noted that the G5/G7/G15 mice\keyboard works, but has an issue with the game FEAR and possible others, there is a thread in the FEAR forums about this. Under 64 bit mode, you use the XP64 drivers, but that seems to generate an error about the Media Player on-boot. But it works fine afterwards.

CyberLink PowerDVD5
Vista Home Preimum (32bit): No
Vista Business (32bit): Yes
Vista Ultimate (32bit): No
Vista Ultimate x64 (RC2 Build 5744): Yes :?: :?

The following games that works so far
with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
RC2 Build 5744

-Need for Speed Most Wanted
-Just Cause
-Rayman 4 (the rabbids)

Note: Some of the games listed the requirement on the box
says, "Windows XP (only)", but they still work in a 64bit OS.
The games do not support native 64bit, but they do install
in 32bit mode.
No compatibilities are required.

Thanks for the list... Just want to ask, is QQ, the most widely used online chatting software in China, compatible with vista? And I tried to install Alcohol 120% on my new laptop with vista, but the system immediately crashed and could not be started anymore. I had to send it for services.

Sorry if this is posted the wrong forum 😳
