Long ShutDown on XP

Well i have WinXP Pro. It takes more than 20 second to shutdown what is wrong with it. My system is XP1600+, epox8kha+ and Geforce3ti200(driver ver. 27.20)

Did you know pressing Winkey+Pause(break) button together will get you stright to system properties?

Well I am on Windows XP home edition, and it also takes me a while to shut down. I was disapointed to see this because I thought WinXP would have made a faster restarting mode. it takes me 15-20 seconds. IM on P4 1.7 ghz. 80 gig hard drive. 512 SDRAM. It may also have to do with the amount of things you have done since starting up your computer and the amount of things you have open whe you shut down your comp. I too have this slow shut down problem, however I believe its WinXP and not our computers.

My computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Additional Info:

On my system, ZoneAlarmPro was causing the shutdown procedure to take an extrodinarily long time to complete ... upgrading to the most recent version (v3.0) fixed the problem. I now have a 24 second startup, even with several items loading in the taskbar, and a 4-5 second shutdown.
