I like to replace my 8 port Netgear switch with a POE model. I run currently two POE AP's and one cam of this switch with injectors. I like to end-up with a cleaner setup not using injectors and several power supplies. I really need 8 ports at the current location. Some extra woudl be a plus. Realizing that usually the next "size" is 16 ports which typically results with a fan I like to avoid.

While I typically bought some sort of smart managed switch I rarely configure a switch.
I like a reliable brand/product

Here are some finds:

Netgear GC510p managed

Tripplite 8 port un-mangaed

BVTech un-managed 9 port:

Unifi
(I use unifi AP's, so this woudl seem to make sense, but reviews are not good)

Zyxel GS 1920

Trendnet TPE-1020WS 10-Port:

Would appreciate input on other models and feedback on the ones I listed. Not sure if I should add a Cisco model? I found the 250 and 350; however both with external PSU - but if I am not mistaken a true (usable) 10 port?

I guess the good news is switches are pretty simple as long as you do not get fancy manged ones. There are only a small number of manufactures of the actual switching chips and the poe chips. I doubt they spend the money to develop their own line they likely just pay a china manufacture to assemble them and put their name on them.

The ones you have to be careful of are ones that have fancy firmware, those the same exact hardware can work very differently based on how well the company that sells it write the software.

That makes sense. I imagine Cisco has the best FW quality but ahs external PSU. I am a bit cautious about Trendnet regarding support. But I do like the 10 ports with integrated PSU.
