Looking for a Cheap Boot SSD

Greetings fellow humans,

My hard drive is on the blink of becoming mashed potato and I plan to replace it with another hard drive. But what I want to do differently is to re-install Windows 7 on a small SSD. This SSD will only have the OS on it and nothing else. I plan on doing this so the HDD doesn't have a bigger workload to deal with; i.e. constantly reading and writing due to OS files being changed, read etc.

I'm looking for something like a 30-50GB sized SSD within a budget of £20-£50 (I am a poor b**tard but you can go over if it requires it). I am aware that Windows 7 is around 20GB and SSD's slow down with more stuff on it but, even if it ends up to be the same speed/performance as the HDD, I don't mind and as long as the HDD has less workload (due to OS being on an SSD).

Is this an effective way of storing my shiz? Am I doing something wrong? Is what i'm asking for possible?

Why not 120GB http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-internal-hard-drive-sv300s37a120g gives some room for programs.

30-50GB is too small. Period.

Windows 7 is NOT "around 20GB", but rather closer to 40-45GB after you run all the updates.
I just rebuilt my daughters laptop. Win 7 Home Premium. The initial install was indeed around 22GB.
But once all the updates were done, ~35GB.

And after a few very small utilities (1GB total), and MS Office (~3GB)...it was 40GB.

It is nearly impossible, nor desired, to have 'only' the OS on the SSD. It always ends up being more.

60G only if you're super-diligent about not installing any programs other than Calculator and Notepad

seriously, the price difference between 60 and 120 drives today is small yet the capacity difference is drastic. see what's on sale in the 120G / 128G range, and buy accordingly. heck, i picked up a 120G Mushkin Chronos G2 for $65 Canadian last week cuz it was on sale. worked out great.
