So I have a Compaq presario SR5550f still has the lame integrated video card, I've been browsing on newegg for something under the price of $120. I want it specifically for gaming, and one that doesn't need to hookup to my power supply.. that gives me headaches.. I know my way around the computer but that's too much for me to mess with.
Just wanted some advice from you guys, so much with all these cards needing to be compatible with motherboard etc. it's hard for me to find what will work with my computer. Any help would be great : ) And these PCIe 2.0 will run fine with my computer I think? anyways anything off here you guys would think be ok for what im working with?

You have several choices of graphic cards that don't require being hooked up with your power supply. The above card isn't one of them.

Look at the HD4670s, such as this one.

There are also some fairly new releases of Graphic cards like this 9800GT (Energy Efficient Edition) that don't use a power connector that might be what you want. I haven't seen hard benchmarks on these to see how well they perform.

Thanks for the quick replies, Dirt which one of those 3 would you get? Whatever works best for games is what I'd prefer.

That would probably be the 9800GT. Like i said i haven't seen benchmarks, but it's probably just underclocked and should give the best performance. It does have a problem, especially if a prebuilt case without good cooling and that is it's temperatures. If this were my system and i wanted to improve my gaming i'd go with the 9600GT. I'd still keep and eye on my temps though and DL a hardware monitor, either speedfan or CPUIDs.
