I have a super old outdated CPU, MOBO, and DDR3 RAM. I was looking to replace these aspects of my PC. I also wanted to get an SSD and a new HDD. My PSU is about 7-8 years old now too, but seems fine so I may need to get that replaced too. I was hoping to get some help on essentially a new PC build. The only thing I 100% don't need to be replaced is my GPU ( GTX 1070 4GB VRAM). I'm also already set on a PC Case, but im open to recommendations. I would like the PC to have streaming capabilities, but definitely not priority. Mt budget is about $1400-1800. I'd prefer to not use it all but if I end up doing so that is fine. Thank you ahead of time to anyone who takes the time to help me out.

Hey thank you so much for the response! I guess I am unsure of what exact 1070 I have but it runs fine for the 1080p gaming I am doing right now. I do plan on upgrading it later on its just i dont have a need for upgrading it since everything else is so out of date. Also do you have any other MOBO recommendations? That one is sold out on newegg and at my local microcenter. Everything else is great, thank you so much!

Hi there, I have a few question if you don't mind:

  1. What is that the main use of your PC?
  2. Do you play games with it (Im guessing you do), What kind of games do you play?
  3. Do you work with it?, What kind of software do you use?
  4. Do you Stream, or like to Stream?
  5. How good or bad, or old is your display? What make and model? Would you like to add a new display, perhaps with mroe resolution and/or higher refresh rate?
  6. Do you prefer AMD or an Intel system?
  7. Do you know theres new Intel CPU launching later this month?
  8. Do you know theres new AMD CPUs launching in september?
  9. Do you know theres new motherboard for AMD coming out soon?
  10. Are you in a hurry to build this system?
If you don't wana answer thats ok. I just don't want you to over do it, and build a PC that will be used at a 15~35% of its max capacity. You have a big budget, but as you said, you may no need to use it all.

I use it for gaming for the most part and minor schoolwork since im in college. I play most newer games , indie games, really anything to offer. I dont use too much demanding software but like I said I would like the PC to have streaming capabilities. I enjoy streaming but obviously it would be a minor pastime of mine, not like a career. My current display is just some benQ with a 1ms refresh and 60hz 1080 27". I do plan on upgrading it to a 144hz 1440p monitor later on just not at the moment. I am however open to any monitor recommendations if you have some. I've used AMD cpus only and i have no problem with them and I know the newer AMD cpus outperform the newer intel CPUs (may be mistaken). I know there are new intel cpu's launching. I didnt know about the new AMD cpus. I dont want to wait though because everytime i go to get build help Im always told, "you should wait new stuff is coming out", I dont need the newest thing available just good solid reliable tech. So pretty much im just tired of always going to fix up my build and then waiting and then eventually i just end up not doing it. I'm not necessarily in a hurry, but it would be nice to build it soon.

Note: Im open to the idea of using intel CPUs i have nothing against them

Thank you for the answers, since you may change your monitor later on, and you can sell your GTX 1070, I would give it a go to the GPU now, this is what I would do:
