I'm running XP home with SP-1 installed. I've had all of
the critical updates installed as well . . .at least I've
had them installed.
I've had to revert to using the RESTORE function sevral
times to get my drive drivers back and working . . .Well
almost.
I had to RESTORE several times to the same point intime
due to the consistant loss of driver capability over a
very short period of time.
When I perform a RESTORE, the MS supplied updates are
lost and must be redownloaded. It seems that my AVG
supplied anti-virus software is also taken back to the
RESTORE point. Thus my system becomes suseptable to
viruses. Yes, I caught hold of SASSER during one of my
RESTORE exercizes. I used your sources to remove the
infection and updated my AVG software; but my two CD-ROM
drives are back off line.
I have no way to get them working from the DOS prompt as
my drive is set to NTFS and DOS is blind to that file
structure. How can I D\L the proper drivers directly from
MS and what drivers should I be looking for?

Below is a summary of my efforts to get my two CD-ROM
drives back and running properly. I've used
LG CD-ROM-8320B Properties [APP Menu.]

Both CD-ROM drives have the same set of drivers. The
second drive is a CDR\RW drive by HP model number 9100.
