I recently purchased an antec 300 case with a WD caviar blue hard drive and mounted it using the thumbscrews that came with the case. The problem is that it is making a pulsing hum every other second which I read might be due to the mounting and vibrating with the case. I also read you could buy rubber screws or secure it in the air with wires. I am sort of stumped what to do at the moment and I couldn't find where to buy rubber screws in Canada. On a side note the hard drive is refurbished.

if you have a local hardware store walk into the plumbing section look at washers and o-rings. what you want to do is put a black washer on the screw so that the drive spinning does not pass the hum to the case. if you have to use a small piece of rubber cut it to the same with and lenth of the side of the hd. then poke it so you can mount it with the hd. with a good drive bearing you should not hear the drive spin. if you can hear the drive spin (on a flat table or your hand.) not a good sign of the drive health.

hm I think the bearing is apart of the problem because I can hear the drive spin when holding with my hands.
