[SOLVED] Low fps with new gpu

I have a pre-built Dell Inspiron 3656 and it had an AMD Radeon R9 360, but I replaced it with a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 OC 2gb Windforce. I dont know what they used for the motherboard but it has an integrated amd fx-8800p. I also have 16gb of ram. On videos I have seen people use the geforce gtx 1050 with a game on ultra running from 50-60 fps. but for me it is 15-30. I dont know if I can use my 1050 with the amd fx-8800p. I have tried playing fallout 4 on ultra and got 15-20fps in small areas like red rocket. I played hitman 2 on ultra overclocked and it worked great but still 30-40fps. other games like gta5 and fallout 4 overclocked still run from 15-30. So basically I just want to know if i need a stronger cpu or I have gotten something wrong. I also forgot to add that playing games with my amd radeon r9 360 had an average of 40-49fps in games. P.S when i got a stable overclock for my 1050 I got like 490mhz and 250mhz in gpu clock. btw i used xtreme gaming engine.

I installed what came on the disc in the box and went onto and registered to nvidia geforce experience and downloaded the game ready driver

The disc is usually outdated, just go to Nvidia website to get the latest one.

I got the latest game ready driver from may and still no difference. I tried unigine heaven and no difference either.

How many PCIE slot does the motherboard has. If more than one then which slot did you put the GPU on, the top, closer to the CPU or the bottom?

there is the long one which i think is in every motherboard and some little one it wouldnt fit in

Wait, did you plug your HDMI/display/DVA cables from the motherboard to the monitor or from the GPU to the monitor?

I have a dp screen and it is plugged into the gpu

Here is your issue. Your GPU the 1050 windforce is a GPU that requires at minimum 300watts of power. Right now you have a under powered GPU because of your PSU.

No your good, I thinK it's the PSU that's affecting the GPU

And i dont need a new cpu? because it is amd

Upgrade your PSU and you should be fine. I wouldn’t recommend running your computer until then because a underpowered card is not good.

Where my power supply is on the back of the computer it has like a grate and the psu is covered in a box which i have tried to open and i couldnt

i looked at my gpu and there is not any type of connector on my 1050. is it because it is gigabyte? or just the model? also the only things the psu is connected to is ATX_CPU and ATX_SYS

Wait did you even connect the pcie power connector to the GPU

Take a look at the GPU again

On the 6th picture, you should be able to locate the power connector.
