Question Low GPU and CPU usage in all games.

Hi. A few months ago i bought a new gaming rig.

Heres the specs:

Windows 10 home

GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Ventus 8gb

CPU: AMD ryzen 7 2700 - 8 cores

RAM: 16gb G.Skill ddr4 3000mhz

Storage: 256gb ssd and 1000gb hdd

The problem is that in games like far cry 3,4,5 and other demanding 3d games, my gpu and cpu usage sits around 20 - 40% all of the time. This means that in for example a game like Far cry 3 i barely get 60 fps because of the low gpu and cpu usage. I did not notice this until some time because i mostly play esport titles like Fortnite and CS:GO, which runs great even tho the gpu and cpu usage sits around 20 - 40% all the time. I have been researching this for a long time and have not been able to find a fix. Even in stress test the gpu and cpu usage wont go up. I tried overclocking my gpu through MSI Afterburner, this didnt help with my gpu either..

I hope someone can help me with this - sry for my bad english

Thanks.

What have you tried yourself? How are the temperatures while gaming? Have you tried reinstalling windows? Have you checked your power settings?

Also, is it a prebuilt PC or did you assemble it yourself? And what kind of benchmarking software did you use? Install 3dmark and check if the results of your GPU are similar to other 2070s.

The exact model of the psu: ThermalTake Smart SE 630W 80+ BRONZE Modular
Is that enought for my graphics card?

I bought the pc prebuilt
I use RivaTuner for benchmarking in games and MSI kombuster for stresstesting.
The temperatures while gaming:
gpu temperatures is about 40 -60 and the same for cpu

Btw i found out my ram is 3200mhz instead of 3000mhz

I have not tried much myself other than Setting all nvidia settings to the most performance and using ultimate performance in windows powerplan. Ive also tried resetting my pc and overcloking the memory clock and core clock through MSI Afterburner. Non of these things helped with the problem.

3dmark thingy: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/37616430?

That PSU is fine. It's not the best but should be able to do the job.

Have you dowloaded the latest drivers for your GPU and CPU?

If both your CPU and GPU are limited it's probably not an issue with your GPU. I'm not sure what the issue could be though. Sounds like it could have something to do with your ram (?).

Have you checked your memory settings in the BIOS? Check if they are set to 3200 mhz and if the XMP profile is turned on.

I've found a similar thread (https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1005610-my-gpu-wont-run-at-full-speed/ ) which suggests that you should enable gaming mode in ryzen master. The thread is a bit dated so I'm not sure if it will work but it's worth a shot.

You could also try reseating your CPU, but if you still have warranty it would probably be better to return it to the shop and let them fix it. They can easily swap some components to see what the problem is.

I have the latest drivers for my GPU, idk about my cpu.

I have checked my memory settings in the bios there is no xmp profile, but a profile that sets my memory mhz to 3200 and changes some things so i think thats fine.

I cant find out how to enable gaming mode in ryzen master and no vids on yt has helped me so idk..

I was wondering
My friend has the same pc as me, the only difference is that his cpu is a ryzen 5 instead of my ryzen 7 and his idle MHz in msi afterburner is 300 and mine is at 1410 all the time. Is that a problem or something i should try fixing? My idle temp is higher than his too.
