I've just bought a new laptop (2024 G14) and am planning to upgrade the internal SSD from 1TB to 4TB. Since I'm upgrading a SSD in a laptop, would power consumption/efficiency be a concern when looking for a SSD? And if so, are there any good low power Gen 4 (M.2) SSDs? I was looking at purchasing this one from Amazon but am not sure about the power profile and how it would affect the battery life of my new laptop.

nah the power efficiency isn't a concern youll want to make sure that the nvme thermal pad is making good contact with the bottom of the case as its the way the heat is being transfered i would reuse the thermal pad or make sure to have a slightly thicker or similar thermal pad.

for best performance

thanks for the rec, it's cheaper than the WD one so ima get the Lexar one u recommended 👍

no problem just remember the thermal pad or it will be a short lived nvme these fast speed ones run hot

it should be either a thickness of 1.5 or 2.0

Gelid Solutions or

Minus Pad 8 by thermal grizzly

either works but if you can retrieve the current pad on your nvme that should work fine as well just be careful as they tear easily
