I have a Transcend 128 m.2 on an MSI board. Speed fan tells me that usually my drive is around 48 degrees but when it gets to 54, my system freezes and I have to reboot. Of course, I have no fan for my HD and nothing on my system is OC'd. I want to get a regular SSD and ditch the m.2, but in the meantime how can I keep it from getting so damn hot? Usually it happens under some load with Far Cry 4 or CoD: Ghosts, but occasionally it happens just browsing the web also. How can I cool it down, and will this be a problem when I get an SSD that is not physically attached to the mb? Thanks for your help.

It should not be getting that hot even without a fan. It looks like a fault with the drive, I was looking around and a few people are having the same problem with that drive. Some said it gets that hot it has desroyed the drive. Is it under warrenty? You need to return the drive if possible ask for a full refund and buy a different brand.

*Edit* If possible make a system image on another drive or clone the drive to a new HDD or SSD.
